How to Install Your New A1713 Battery (A1708)

Replacing the battery in an A1708 MacBook Pro requires specialized tools and patience to remove the strong factory adhesive safely.

⚠️ Crucial Safety Preparation

• Discharge First: Ensure the battery is below 25% to minimize the risk of fire during the removal process.
• Required Tools: P5 Pentalobe, T5 Torx, T3 Torx, and a Battery Adhesive Remover (or 99% Isopropyl Alcohol).

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

1. Open the Case:
   Use the P5 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the 6 screws. Carefully slide the bottom cover forward to release the clips.
2. Disconnect the Battery Board:
   Locate the battery data connector. Use a T3 Torx to remove the single screw, then gently lift the connector flex. This isolates the power from the logic board.
3. Remove the Internal Hardware:
   To avoid damage, we recommend removing the SSD (T5 screw) and clearing the path near the battery cells.
4. Dissolve the Adhesive:
   Apply Adhesive Remover under the edges of each battery cell. Let it sit for 5-8 minutes to soften the glue.
   Critical Warning: The trackpad flex cable is located directly underneath the center battery cells. Use a thin plastic card to slide under the cells very slowly to avoid cutting this cable.
5. Clean and Position:
   Wipe away all remaining adhesive from the chassis. Remove the backing from the new A1713 battery’s adhesive strips.
   Align the battery screw holes and connector with the logic board BEFORE pressing the cells down into place.
6. Reassemble and Calibrate:
   Secure all screws, reconnect the battery data cable, and close the case.
   Calibration: Charge to 100%, keep it on the charger for 2 hours, then discharge to 5%, and charge it back to 100% uninterrupted.
